If you’ve always wanted an organised and clutter-free kitchen, you can have it. I recently shared some tips on how you can de-clutter your kitchen and most importantly keep it clutter-free. Those tips will work no matter how old or cluttered your kitchen currently is.
Today I’m sharing 6 kitchen organisation DIY’s that will help you keep your kitchen tidy and make sure there is a place for everything. All these DIY’s are budget friendly, stylish and practical. Some will even add a bit of a feature to your kitchen while still being very functional too.
6 DIY Kitchen organisation ideas
1. DIY hanging utensil holder
This is not only a beautiful hanger but it’s also very practical. Instead of adding more clutter to your countertops or over-stuffing your drawers, make a hanging utensil holder for your most often used kitchen tools. It makes quite a feature while being very useful too.
2. DIY kitchen noticeboard
This cool leather and wood noticeboard ladder is slim and minimal yet super handy. I find that papers often pile up on my kitchen table but a diy kitchen noticeboard like this will change all that. Clip your calendar, appointment letters, recipes, school permission slips, photos and everything else that otherwise becomes a pile of paper on you countertops.
3. DIY pantry basket with labels
Got open shelves or a disorganised pantry? These baskets with DIY labels are your friend. Putting everything in to baskets with clear labels not only makes everything look so much less cluttered, it also makes everything super easy to find. I love these DIY leather labels as they add a stylish touch to your kitchen baskets.
4. DIY wall to wall hanging rail
Why stop at a small hanging rail but instead go for the max length you can. Although this one isn’t a DIY, these rails are easy to find and hang and are very budget friendly – you could even use curtain rails with hooks or something similar. Hanging up all your utensils and/or pots and pans, mugs, kitchen towels etc will save a ton of space in your drawers and countertops and it’s a pretty feature in a kitchen. Just make sure not to overcrowd the rail so that it looks as stylish as it is handy. (photo via)
5. DIY meal planner
When we’re talking kitchen organisation, the one thing that has been a game changer for me is making a weekly meal plan every Sunday. I still don’t do it every week like I should but when I do, I save money, time, fridge space and head space! This is a super simple DIY meal planner that you can make in minutes and if you don’t have counter space to lean it on, glue a magnet or two behind the wood and stick it on your fridge.
6. DIY kitchen trolley
A kitchen trolley is a great idea if you need a little extra storage. You can have things close to hand when you need to but at other times you can wheel the trolley out of the way. The trolley can also double up as a bit of extra workspace. Why buy one when you can easily make a simple kitchen trolley which also happens to be an Ikea hack so it’s easy on budget and looks great too. The one above is being used as a drinks trolley but its just as perfect to store plates, glasses or anything else. You can even customise with baskets (like the panty baskets above) especially if you need to store odd bits and pieces.
