Go bold with these DIY personalised notebook covers

diy personalised notebook covers

In many ways, September to me feels more like a time for new beginnings than January. It’s the start of the new school year which also means I get to go back to work properly after a slow summer.  The whole back to work / back to school time is very exciting with so much to look forward to, even though it’s a bit sad bidding goodbye to those warm, lazy, summer days spent with the kiddies.

One of my favourite things to do in the last days of August is to plan for the months ahead. To do that I need notebooks.  In fact, I always need notebooks. For stationery obsessed people like me, you can never have too many.  And with the kids going back to school, I thought everybody needs some new notebooks at this time of the year.

I decided to go for these diy personalised notebook covers as kids love having their initials on stuff and the bold, over-sized alphabets make a cool notebook cover design for any age.

how to make initial notebooks

Materials:
basic notebooks
matt white sticky back paper / contact paper
A4 vinyl matt white sticker sheets (US readers get similar here)
scissors/craft knife

Making the notebooks:
Cover the notebooks in the white sticky back / contact paper (here’s a book covering tutorial in pictures in case you need it)
For the letters, you can use any font and size you like, but here’s what I did to get the bold look:
Font: Anson Regular (bold)
Size: 500
Software: microsoft word
Print out the letters on your A4 sticker sheets and cut them out – I got 2 letters to a sheet by printing in landscape. Stick on to the notebook. And done!

I love my monochromes as many of you know but you can always go for coloured letters if you prefer or if your kids want a particular colour.

I’m excited to add these bold alphabet notebooks to my ever growing stash. After all you can never have too many notebooks, right?  Do you think you’re going to make these for yourself or the kids or both?

I just cleared through the clutter of the end of the year papers that were in their bags , I should have at least made a personalized notebook especially since they are reusing former one’s with plenty of paper left for this year.
