I was recently gifted a pompom maker and I can’t even begin to tell you how many pompoms I’ve made. I thought it was about time I did something with them and so here is my first pompom DIY that I want to share with you. These DIY pompom hair clips are so easy to make and so pretty! I’ve made so many that I’ve started gifting them too and they’ve been really fun little handmade presents to give to Anya’s friends. I’m also loving the idea of using these as pretty little party bag treats.
To make these DIY pompom hair clips you will need:
Wool (yarn) in the colours of your choice
35mm Pompom maker (I’ve recommend one at the end of the post)
2″ or 5cm Plain black bendy hair clips
Hot glue gun
Scissors
These DIY pompom hair clips are very easy to put together once you’ve made the pompoms – as I’m sure you’ve worked out. So I won’t go in to detail but will just say be fairly generous with the hot glue on the clips to ensure the pom poms stay on. I also suggest pressing the pom pom on to the clip for a minute or two to make sure it sticks. And finally use fine wool as the pom poms are quite small and don’t work as well with thicker wool.
When I’m gifting these pom pom hair clips, I like to put them on to a piece of white card before wrapping.
They pompom clips look so cute on, don’t they? I am considering wearing them myself!
I recommend buying a pom pom maker as it makes life a lot easier than making your own cardboard version. Here’s the PomPom Maker I recommend for UK readers and for US readers, it’s here. And for the black hair clips I used, UK readers can find it hereand US readers here.

So beautiful, I can’t wait to show Oliver this post. Anya is so stunning as always. Please tell me I’m not too old to rock these x
Never too old and definitely not you! 🙂 Must get kids together soon and us xxx
Do you remember the name of the yarn you used? I love those colors!
Hi there – I think the yarn was called Bergere de France but I am not absolutely sure. And it was quite a thin one. I actually chose the brand I chose because of the colours which I loved too. I’m guessing you’re in the US but just in case you’re UK based, I got the yarn at John Lewis. Hope this helps a bit!
