Make your old sofa look new with slipcovers by Comfort Works

how to make your old sofa look new

I have an Ikea Soderhamn sofa which I love but the covers were looking really tired and way past their best.  I started looking into options of how I could refresh my sofa or what I could do to make it at least look presentable.  I wasn’t keen on buying a new one because that can get pretty expensive and besides there was nothing wrong with the sofa; it was just the covers.

That’s when Comfort Works got in touch with me and they had the perfect solution.  They make slipcovers for a huge range of Ikea sofas as well as sofas from other popular brands like Pottery Barn, West Elm, Arhaus and much more.  If your sofa’s not on the list, you can still get a cover by sending a pic of your sofa and Comfort Works will let you know the possible options.

They offered to help me refresh my Ikea sofa and I was really excited to partner with them to transform my old sofa.  You’ll see exactly what I mean in one of the pics below where there’s a before and after pic.  How worn out does my sofa look in the before pic?!

The whole process of choosing and getting the covers was so easy.  I got to choose fabric samples which were sent to me.  This is so important because it can be very tricky to choose fabrics by looking at a screen.  I was able to feel the fabric, look at the colours in real life and also in the lighting in my home which can have a big impact.

I got my fabric samples very quickly and I fell in love with the pure linen fabric in white.  I’ve always wanted a white linen sofa but buying a brand new one can get super expensive.  Once I had decided on my fabric, Comfort Works got to work making my covers.

And then the covers arrived.  I took a look at the fabric and it was just beautiful.  Soft, white linen that’s lovely to touch and sit on.  The creased look just adds to the beauty of the covers.  I’m going on about the linen because I am a bit obsessed with this fabric but Comfort Works have a range of different fabric options like cotton, vegan leather and much more.  There are also fabrics that are stain resistant, spill resistant and claw-proof so there’s lots of choice if you have young kids and pets.  And the range of colours is pretty big as well.  Of course I love my neutrals so I couldn’t look beyond white!

Here’s a short video of me changing the sofa covers:

Once again you can see the before and see how tired the sofa was looking.  And now it’s looking like new.  Also there are a wide range of Ikea sofas that Comfort Works make covers for so, not just the one I have, so I’m sure yours will be on there.  And don’t forget they do too.

Once I had the covers on my Ikea sofa I was super impressed.  My old sofa looks brand new again as you can see in the before and after pic.  Apart from the looks, getting new covers is a much more sustainable way to update your sofa rather than buying a new sofa.  Also Comfort Works don’t use any plastic in their beautiful packing which you can see in the video.

The covers are washable which is great especially as I have gone for white and I have a kid and a puppy. I know it’s risky but at least I can wash the covers whenever I need to.  The linen covers from Comfort Works come with a bit of slack as that emphasises the natural beauty of linen.  I wish I could have you all over to see and touch them in real life!

I am so happy with the way my sofa now looks.  It’s completely transformed and looks brand new.  As I said, I love the Soderhamn sofa for its clean, minimal looks and now I’m wondering if I ever need to buy another sofa again because I can always get new covers in time.

I’m also loving the idea of going for seasonal looks for my sofa by getting a darker colour for the colder months and white for summer.  I do this with my cushions already but it’s exciting to think I can switch up my sofa too.  That way there’s no chance of me getting bored of my decor in a hurry which will end up saving me a lot over the years.

Whether you have a sofa that’s looking old or you hate the colour, getting new covers is a great way to make your old sofa look new on a budget.  It’s cheaper than buying a brand new sofa and if you have the budget, get two different covers – one sofa two looks. What colour will you go for?

Head on over to Comfort Works to check out their covers and you’ll soon have a brand new look for your sofa.  It’s worth mentioning that Comfort Works offer a 3 year warranty and free worldwide shipping – this is a great bonus because who likes to pay for shipping, right?

The sofa covers were gifted to me but all images, words and opinions are mine.  This post contains affiliate links which means if you buy I’ll get a small commission at no cost to you.
