This apartment, situated in Stockholm, Sweden, is so simple yet so cosy and calming. It’s decorated mostly in soft grey shades with dark wood furniture accents throughout. The contrast of the pale grey and the dark wood is striking and shows how well warm and cool tones can work together.
Aside from the colour scheme, the thing that stood out to me most about this apartment was the plants. Tall, sculptural plants have been dotted around the home. They add so much visual interest which is especially important in more minimalist spaces like this one.
There is something so calm and soothing about this bedroom. It’s simply decorated in light grey and features dark wooden furniture much like the rest of the home. It’s the few but carefully chosen details that make this bedroom so striking like the tall plant, all the lighting and the linen bedding.
On the right of the bed you have a small desk for working from home. The desk is also in a dark wood and has a mid-century design much like the dark wood cabinet on the other side of the bed.
The living room is decorated in the same tones as the bedroom — light grey with dark wood accents. And once again you have large, sculptural plants that add so much visual impact to this pared back space. Most of the furniture is angular so the organic shapes of plants also create contrast with this.
Once again the decorations are simple and few. Instead the focus is on lots of textures which bring a neutral space like this to life. Here you have a pile rug, marble tables, wooden accents and more. You also have lots of books which make great decor. There are no window coverings which is quite common in Scandinavian homes as it allows you to maximise natural light.
The kitchen diner is just off the living room. It’s a small space but they’ve used it really well — the round dining table is a great idea in a space like this. The color scheme is much like the rest of the apartment but they’ve gone for a much darker grey here with dark grey kitchen cabinets balanced with white tiles and walls.
The second bedroom in this Swedish apartment is a kids bedroom. It’s been decorated in the same colours as the rest of the home and also has lots of texture. The kids bedroom also features a large, sculptural plant which is just visible in the second pic.
There’s lots to love about this calming grey home with sculptural plants which, though minimally decorated, feels so cosy and warm. Aside from the plants, it’s all the texture that makes this space so inviting.
