Coasters are kind of like socks in my house. No matter how many I have, they seem to vanish after a while. So I’m constantly needing more. Ever since starting this blog I’ve never bought coasters because they’re so easy to make and you can get really creative with different materials and looks. It’s also always fun to make stuff for your home.
I’ve picked out 5 easy DIY coasters that you can make for yourself or they make lovely handmade gifts too. With Christmas coming up, you could make a bunch of these coasters to give as gifts. I’ve included coasters made of different materials like wood, leather, concrete and clay.
5 easy DIY coasters (that make lovely handmade gifts too)
I love how simple and minimal these DIY coasters are. Made of wood and rubber, they’re easy to make and you can go for whatever colour you like. Although I do like the monochrome black, white and grey look.
This is one of my own creations and I can say these DIY rainbow clay coasters are so fun to make and look so pretty too. Once again you can choose different coloured clay or you could even make them with white clay and paint them. I chose neutral colours as I love my neutrals.
These leather coasters couldn’t be easier to make. I love leather but what makes these coasters even more special is that they can be personalised with a name or a message. This would be a great Christmas gift for a family where you can emboss each persons name on the coasters. I’m tempted to make these but I think I’d opt for camel coloured leather. Or I might make a set with different leather tones like camel, beige and darker brown.
How cute are these DIY terrazzo coasters? These coasters are made with clay and because of the abstract terrazzo design, each one will be slightly different. These coasters would make a fun festive gift for anyone.
I love the simplicity and minimalism of these DIY concrete coasters. Concrete is such a tactile and beautiful looking material – I think everyone needs something made of concrete in their decor. Buying concrete coasters can get really expensive (I’m not sure why as concrete is a cheap material) so making your own is a great idea.
