Have you decorated your home for Christmas yet? We usually mark out a weekend and thats when we buy the tree, drink lots of hot chocolate, watch an Xmas movie and get decorating. I like to make some of my own Xmas decorations so that I can tailor them to my home, my colours and my style. I recently made a eucalyptus garland which is still hanging above our dining table and even though it has dried out it still looks great. Today I’m sharing another simple decoration that’s easy to make and fun to display.
These DIY wooden stars are made out of craft popsicle sticks – they are so easy to make and can be decorated as you like or leave them all natural as I’ve done. I had thought about decorating them but the natural, pale wood appealed to my minimalist side too much and it works well with my home decor.
To make these easy DIY wooden stars, all you need is some craft popsicle sticks and a glue gun – thats it! The trickiest part was making the 5 points of the star exactly even so that it looked like a star but you don’t have to worry about that – I’ve created a free PDF for you to download which will make it super easy!
Materials:
10 popsicle sticks (per star)
glue gun
I started by making each of the 5 points of the wooden star by gluing 2 popsicle sticks together. And then I just glued the 5 points to each other. I choose to keep them minimal and natural but you can paint them or decorate them as you like.
As mentioned earlier, the trickiest part was to get all the 5 points exactly even so it looked like a star. The first few I tried looked a bit strange, but then I worked out the exact spacing and angles and I then created a FREE download for you which will make it very easy for you. Grab your copy above or below.
I love that these DIY wooden stars can be used in so many ways. They can be hung from the ceiling or from a large branch. You can line them up on the floor or even use them on your dining table. Or how about stringing some mini fairy lights which is what I’m planning to do. Before you go, don’t forget to grab your free PDF below.

These are awesome and soooo easy to do with your template. Thank you so much for providing this great minimalist idea. Brilliant. I just finished one beautiful star (in less than 10 minutes, most of it is drying time)!
