I bought some eucalyptus stems the other day and that same day I happened to be hosting a small gift wrapping party for our school PTA so I decided to quickly hang up these eucalyptus stems to add a festive touch. I didn’t have any time to do anything involved so this idea came in really handy as it takes minutes.
DIY EUCALYPTUS GARLAND
Materials:
eucalyptus stems
natural twine (US readers find similar here )
To make the eucalyptus garland, double up the twine to whatever length you want for your garland and tie it. The doubling up helps to make it stronger and sturdier. Then then tie your eucalyptus stems to the twine using another small piece of twine for each stem. Now hang it up and your diy eucalyptus garland is done.
I left the stems in varying lengths, rather than trimming them all to one size, as I thought it looked more interesting.
This eucalyptus garland makes an especially nice backdrop for a dining table so I’m thinking of doing the same for Christmas day. And it smells so nice too.
It’s nice to have a few quick and easy Christmas decor ideas up your sleeve so I’ll be adding this diy eucalyptus garland to my list. It so looks like you’ve made an effort to decorate but it actually takes minutes to put together. If you like this, you might like these mini eucalyptus wreaths too.

P.S. Here is another way to make a eucalyptus garland.

Where did you buy the eucalyptus? Is it available in a fake plant or just real?
Nomita says
Hi Keri – I bought it at a local florists. I don’t really know if you get fake versions.

Target and Wal mart has faux. Trader Joe’s has the real ones.

Thanks for the info.

Hi! Love this and planning to do for my wedding in October. How long did the stems hold up and stay looking fresh?
Thanks!
Nomita says
Hi – thanks and congrats. I can’t remember exactly but use the freshest baby eucalyptus you can get and if i remember it definitely looked fresh for a day or two. Best to do it not more than a day before the wedding. And also ensure that the eucalyptus is firmly attached to the wire. Hope that helps!

Hi, how did you attach the garland to the wall so that it stayed up but didn’t damage your wall?
Nomita says
Hi Grace – I’m paranoid about damaging my walls too so I used washi tape. If you look at the second to last picture on the post, you’ll see the tape and get an idea of how much I used. I made a different eucalyptus garland here (again held up with washi tape) in case you’d like to take a look – https://yourdiyfamily.com/2017/12/diy-eucalyptus-garland-thatll-make-your-home-smell-amazing/
