Autumn is definitely in the air but it’s not quite boot weather yet. For these in between times, I love a pair of canvas shoes that are easy to slip on and off. They look chic with anything – jeans, skirts, dresses – and are so comfy to wear. They are my trusty early autumn shoes that I wear all the time.
Recently, I bought a new pair of canvas shoes that I spotted for £3 – could not resist at this price! When Anya saw mine, she wanted a pair so I splurged on a second mini pair for her. Both our shoes were plain white and a bit boring so we decided to bring them to life by painting them.
This 10 minute DIY to paint your canvas shoes is so simple so there are no step by step instructions.

Fabric paint pens
I used fabric paint pens and not fabric paint as it’s easier to paint with pens especially for kids. It allows you to be more precise and make small patterns like the dots we painted.
I chose to paint a classic black polka dot design on mine – black is my signature colour (do you have a signature colour?) but Anya opted for bright pink and orange. Of course you and your kids can paint any design you like.
What design will you choose for your own painted canvas shoes?
