The best part of Easter for me is all the egg decorating opportunities it brings. Eggs have such a simple and beautiful shape and once you decorate them, they look even more special.
This year I opted for a floral Easter egg decorating idea. I love nature inspired decorations so I thought why not try it on eggs. I used some pressed flowers and foliage which I added to painted eggs and they turned out so simple but so pretty.
Once made, these floral Easter eggs will make pretty decorations for your Easter table or you can display them on any table top. Alternatively, attach some string and hang them from some branches.
DIY floral Easter egg decorating idea
Materials:
boiled eggs
acrylic paint
pressed flowers (US readers here)
mod podge (US readers here)
tweezers (optional but recommended)
I can’t bear the thought of blowing out eggs (yuck!) so I always decorate hard boiled eggs which actually last for ages without getting smelly!
Once you’ve boiled your eggs, paint them in your chosen colours — I went with a creamy white and a dark brown (I mixed in a drop of black to make it darker) because these shades reminded me of white chocolate and dark chocolate.
Pick a piece of small foliage or a flower to add to your egg. Using a small paint brush, apply some mod podge to your egg. Using tweezers, lift your pressed flower / foliage and place it on the egg. Gently apply a thin layer of mod podge over the pressed flower to ensure that it sticks. If there are bits sticking out, use your brush to gently press down to ensure it sticks on well. Leave to dry.
I’m thinking of using these floral Easter eggs on my Easter table as little decorations simply placed on top of each napkin. I think they’ll look so pretty against white linen napkins and I might add a couple of stems of the dried flowers to each napkin too.
Alternatively, you can make a whole bunch of these and create a gorgeous centrepiece for your Easter table.
Definitely making them!
Beautifully written – your Japandi-style bedroom looks like the perfect, calming sanctuary for this new chapter. Wishing you peace and inspiration in your refreshed space!
