(Gifted Campaign) My favourite room in my home is my kitchen and my favourite feature in the kitchen is my sliding patio doors that stretch across the entire back wall of the kitchen. They measure nearly 6m / 20 ft so they’re big and allow all the light in. As wonderful as that is, it’s not always practical because on sunny days it’s impossible to see especially since it’s south facing too.
The obvious solution to this was getting either curtains or blinds. I quickly dismissed the idea of blinds because I love adding texture to a room — especially a minimalist space like my kitchen — and curtains are much better at doing this. They bring a soft, cosy feel that blinds don’t. Because of the size of my space, ready-made curtains were impossible to find.
While I was looking at the available options, I got an email from TheHues offering me custom made curtains for my kitchen doors. Talk about manifestation! I hadn’t heard of TheHues, but I soon discovered that they make a huge range of custom curtains and shades in a big choice of fabrics, colours and patterns. I was very excited to partner with them especially since they had exactly what I was looking for — sheer linen curtains.
The whole process of choosing my fabric and getting my curtains was easy. I chose my fabric samples which were promptly sent to me. This is important as you should never choose fabrics just by looking at a screen. I was able to touch the fabric and see the colours in my home and in my lighting conditions. I chose a sheer white 100% linen fabric as that fitted perfectly in my monochrome kitchen.
Next, I had to decide what kind of header I wanted for the curtains. I am not particularly familiar with curtain headers; all I knew was that I wanted something simple and unfussy. The Hues couldn’t have been more helpful or patient with me! They sent me several options and kept sending me ideas until I was happy. Not once did they try to rush me or pressure me to make up my mind quickly.
Once I decided, they made the curtains and shipped them to me, all in just over two weeks. The linen fabric was beautiful, and they thoughtfully also included the curtain hooks which was unexpected but very handy.
I hung up the curtains and they have added so much to my kitchen. They diffuse the light beautifully, meaning the fabric weight is just right so it doesn’t block the light but softens it, allowing me to work in my kitchen even on the sunniest days.
Being linen, the curtains add an abundance of texture to my minimalist kitchen bringing in a warmth and softness that wasn’t there before. Texture it one of the keys to creating a cosy and welcoming space and when it comes to fabrics, linen is one of the best for this. Now, I often draw the curtains even when it’s not sunny because I love how cosy and hygge my kitchen feels.
It’s not just the beautiful linen curtains I’m impressed with though, it’s equally the customer service and care that I got from TheHues. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they genuinely cared that I was 100% happy with my curtains.
If you’re looking for curtains for any room, checkout TheHues who specialise in custom curtains so whatever size space you have — big or small, tall or short — they’ll make the curtains to fit your space perfectly.
[Gifted campaign — the curtains were gifted to me in exchange for an honest review. As always, all words, images and opinions are my own.]

[…] This metod (sektion) hack has been transformed beyond recognition. It looks like a custom made piece but it’s a DIY that you can easily do. Here the metod cabinet has been used to create a DIY kitchen island with a fluted look. The pale wood looks great against all the black in this monochrome kitchen. […]
