5 moody, dark grey living rooms for a stylish and warm space

dark grey living room ideas

Grey is a timeless neutral that can go from light to dark. While all shades of grey can look stylish, there’s something so moody and inviting about the darker end of this shade that makes it ideal for a living room — especially for those of us who prefer darker neutrals.

Sometimes though, grey can be considered cold or boring. But done right, dark grey living rooms can have lots of warmth and feel so cosy. The secret to making a dark grey living space look inviting is texture — lots of different textures in neutral tones that add warmth.

So, if you’ve got a dark grey living room and want to make it feel all snug and warm, these rooms will inspire you. Or maybe you’d love a dark grey living room but aren’t sure if it will work. Either way these grey rooms will give you plenty of ideas for your own space.

This dark grey living room is oozing style, comfort and warmth. They’ve stuck to a mostly grey and beige colour scheme with hints of black but it’s the abundance of textures that makes this space so stunning.

For a softer look, they’ve paired a pale beige linen sofa with the grey walls which works so well. The dark wood accents add warmth and add to the moody feel of this room.

This dark grey living room is so striking! The room benefits from a lot of beautiful architectural details like the tall ceiling height, the wall panelling and the detailed ceiling trim. It’s the contrast of the dark grey walls with the white ceiling that accentuates these details, which is perfect for this room.

Here too you’ve got lots of textures and dark wood accents. The beige sofa looks great against the grey walls and that rust cushion adds a hint of colour to this monochrome room. The dark grey walls paired with the lighter grey curtains give this room a cocoon like feel, making it so inviting and stylish.

This living room looks so cosy not just because of the grey walls but they’ve painted a ceiling an even darker grey. Once again there are stunning architectural details that have been highlighted with grey paint. And of course this living room is full of lots of different textures too.

There’s a pop of colour from the all the greenery and the dark beige cushion provides more contrast to all the grey. There are lots of black accents too. Black is always a great tone to add in to the mix in any neutral coloured room whether light or dark.

This is the darkest living room with very dark grey walls. There’s also a lighter grey sofa and other grey accents. This tone on tone room comes together so well and because of all the texture in the room and it still feels so warm.

If you want to heighten the moody feel, going with very dark walls is an idea although this dark a colour isn’t for everyone. The wooden floors, jute rug and white accents break up the look while still giving it a dark and dreamy mood.

In this living room you have grey walls with lots of white and rust accents. Rusty brown is a great colour to pair with grey walls as it provides a nice contrast and also adds lots of warmth. Textures are once again plentiful in this room with the shaggy rug adding so much cosiness.

The off-white linen sofa covers give this room a relaxed and inviting feel. You’ve also got black accents and some green touches with the plants. Though this room is a little more pared back than some of the others, it still has a lovely moody warm feeling.
