Many of you have told me that you don’t always have time for big DIY’s like my recent Ikea cabinet hack. Those kind of projects are great but nobody can do them every week or even every month. I too love my quick, little DIY’s that enhance my home in some small way. So this week I’ve shared two really quick and easy DIY’s which can be done in 10 minutes (excluding drying time). The first was these DIY fridge magnets and today it’s these quick and easy DIY painted salad servers.
Recently I spotted these simple salad servers in Ikea and it felt like they were screaming out to be painted. I picked them up for £2 and painted them. I went for white with a touch of copper as everybody needs a bit of copper in their life, right?!
Materials:
A pair of plain wooden salad servers
White acrylic paint
Metallic copper acrylic paint (my UK readers can find it here and US readers here.
Masking tape
Paint brush
This project is so simple that it doesn’t even need a how to – just mask and paint! I did 3 coats each of the white and copper paint and let it dry completely between coats.
I’m keeping this pair of DIY painted salad servers for myself but I kind of like the idea of painting some more, as a quick and very budget friendly gift for a foodie friend.
I love the white and copper salad servers. Do you sell them?
Hi Nancy – I did reply to your comment ages ago but it seems to have disappeared. I don’t sell them however I bought them from Ikea for barely £1-£2 and painted them. You can buy any basic wooden spoons and do the same.
