When I came across this stunning Scandinavian kitchen I knew I had to share it. This kitchen lies within a majestic period apartment in Copenhagen. Built in 1907, this apartment recently went through a complete renovation including a beautiful new kitchen designed by the award winning Nordiska Kok.
Looking to create a space that seamlessly bridged the gap between past and present, the owners opted for timeless shaker style kitchen cabinets but with a slimmer frame, giving the cabinets a more minimalist look. To create a cohesive and elegant look, the walls were painted in the same soft white shade of the cabinets. This also allowed the statement design elements to stand out more.
Speaking of statement design elements, the neutral cabinets are combined with Calacatta viola marble countertops and backsplash. Calacatta viola marble is known for it’s vivid veining and rich hues which makes it such a striking material. Here it’s been perfectly paired with brass accents and a soft green ceiling.
The unexpected green ceiling is yet another standout feature in this kitchen. This kitchen has some beautiful architectural features like high ceilings, large windows and ceiling moulding. The green ceiling puts a spotlight on these features without taking over the space, which is why it’s such a simple yet clever idea. The statement light completes the look perfectly.
The brass accents are subtle but provide the perfect contrast against the cool marble. Every detail here has been thought through with brass featuring not only on the hardware but also brass touches on the beautiful wooden kitchen stools.
It’s not just the external visible elements that make this kitchen so special. Inside the pale cabinets, drawers in dark oak echo the tone of the herringbone parquet flooring and provide contrast against the light colour of the cabinets.
This Scandinavian kitchen is filled with elegant style while highlighting the architectural details of the space. Timeless, cosy and sophisticated, this kitchen is truly stunning!
