For the latest home tour, I’ve got this beautiful, warm minimal apartment from Valencia, Spain. The apartment has been decorated mostly in creamy whites, blacks and dark wood tones. Designed by Gabriel Fabra Perez, this apartment has striking architectural features that really stand out against the minimalist interior design.
Apart from the beautiful decor, this apartment pays a lot of attention to sight lines — the view from one room in to another. This is such an important aspect of interior design, particularly in more open plan spaces, but it’s often overlooked. Decorations, lights and more have all been placed in such a way that they look great within the room but also look great when seen from another room.
The living space in this apartment is one long space with each room leading off the next. It has two living rooms and a dining room, all decorated in white, cream, black and dark wood tones. I love how they’ve decorated with a white marble coffee table in one living room and contrasted it with a black coffee table in the other living space.
While the colour palette is completely neutral, there are plenty of textures that add interest like the marble coffee table, the linen curtains and the leather chair. Texture really is the secret to making a neutral and minimalist space look cohesive and interesting.
This monochrome living room also has a mix of modern and vintage pieces which again adds so much personality to a space. There’s a combination of shapes with lots of curved and round shapes mixed in with angular pieces. This is another interior design idea that works so well, especially in more minimalist spaces.
The architectural features in these rooms have been allowed to really shine including the old radiators which have been painted black. The fireplace, another aged feature, provides a striking contrast against all the modern furniture.
This dining room is so simply decorated yet it’s stunning. There is a calm and cohesive feel to this space, much like the rest of the home. The black artwork has been cleverly placed to create a backdrop for the round paper pendant light which creates such a dramatic yet understated look.
The chunky round dining table perfectly contrasts the black and wood chairs with their slim legs. Minimalist decor while pared back, always has lots of visual interest like in this dining room. It’s all about contrasting textures, shapes, and sizes which this home does so well.
Last is the kitchen which is just as stylish as every room in this home. The design detail on that wooden kitchen island is a standout feature and so perfect for a space that is otherwise very minimal. Of course this kitchen benefits from those beautiful arched windows with their aged brass hardware and the floral plaster details above the window — such a striking detail in this room.
They have fully embraced minimalism in this kitchen by having everything hidden away behind kitchen cabinets, except the sink which is in the kitchen island. The little pop of colour, though subtle, brings the window bench area to life. The bench too is quite a feature with it’s long shape and it’s also a practical addition in this kitchen which has no other seating.
